Thank you for visiting this site, where you will find information about my writing and marketing services, as well as links to a small sampling of published articles. If you have questions, or if you would like to discuss a specific project, please don't hesitate to contact me.
As a freelance writer, I split my work hours between penning editorial articles for newspapers and magazines, and creating copy for Web sites, brochures and other marketing pieces. I also manage marketing projects such as newsletters and ad campaigns, on a contract basis. My business is based in Portland, Oregon.
I keep the editorial and marketing branches of my business separate, but I enjoy them equally. Both forms allow me to use my skills to connect with strangers through the medium of words.
For articles, my goal is for readers to walk away with a clearer understanding of the topic, whether I'm outlining the phases of a construction project or describing a choreographer's creative process.
Copywriting for marketing materials requires clarity, too. I love the challenge of distilling the essence of an organization into one paragraph, or crafting a message that speaks to a campaign's intended audience.
In August, Dance Magazine published my article about Portland dance artist Linda K. Johnson's Artist in Residence program.
I contributed to Portland Business Journal's June coverage of fastest-growing private companies.
The May/June issue of EatingWell includes my article about HOTLIPS Pizza's co-owner, David Yudkin, in the "Local Hero" section.
My feature story about the connection between bikes and coffee made the cover of Fresh Cup's March issue.
Here's a link to my profile of Eugene basketmaker, Donna Sakamoto Crispin, which ran in the March/April issue of Natural Home.
My article about green realtors is available online from PLENTY magazine.
Last summer, I attended the NEA Arts Journalism Institute for Dance Criticism on a fellowship. Read more about the program here.
