  • Dance writing fellowship

    In 2007, I spent three weeks at the American Dance Festival attending the NEA Arts Journalism Institute for Dance Criticism. Our group of 12 dance writers watched seven extremely different dance performances, wrote and critiqued reviews, and talked about the state of the art form. Guests such as dance historians, critics, choreographers and other movers-and-shakers of the dance world took time from their busy schedules to speak with us. 

    The program provided an up-to-the-minute snapshot of the modern dance community, and confirmed my commitment to covering the field through profiles, essays, features, previews, and reviews.
